Fiona Skahill Independent Consultant Senior Psychologist
Hi there! I am Fiona.
I bring over 25 years of professional experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families across Australia and the United Kingdom.
My career has been both varied and deeply grounded in psychology. From advising executives within large national organisations, to running my own business in the construction industry, to designing and delivering large-scale early intervention programmes for young children in Australia, the USA, and the UK, these experiences have shaped my ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and across different stages of life.
I began my professional life working with children and adolescents, specialising in developmental difficulties including speech and language challenges, specific learning disorders, emotional and behavioural difficulties, and developmental delay. My work has included complex psychological assessments and the delivery of individual and group interventions using behavioural approaches, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), play therapy, and family therapy.
After further postgraduate training, I worked in Organisational Psychology before relocating to London, where I gained accreditation as a Chartered Educational Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. Over 12 years in the UK, including senior roles and work within Child and Adolescent Mental Health settings, I supported children and young people experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties impacting their education and wellbeing.
In recent years, I have worked in private practice in Perth, conducting complex assessments for children, adolescents, and adults, including neurodiversity assessments for ADHD and Autism Spectrum presentations. I also provide therapeutic support for individuals and families navigating challenges such as anxiety, emotional regulation, executive functioning, behavioural concerns, grief and loss, and self-esteem difficulties.
I have extensive experience working within the NDIS framework and understand that navigating services can feel overwhelming for many families. Supporting children, adolescents, adults, and parents in building capacity, strengthening regulation skills, and developing practical strategies for daily life is a meaningful and rewarding aspect of my work.
My approach is collaborative, structured, and grounded in evidence-based practice. I aim to provide thoughtful assessment, practical support, and individualised care tailored to each client’s needs.
I look forward to contributing this diverse range of experience to support individuals and families at Perth Psychology Collective.
Fiona runs her own independent practice and engages Perth Psychology Collective to provide administrative and other business services to enable her to provide assessment and treatment to her clients.
