Peta Blevins Provisional Psychologist
Life can be messy and complicated, and it’s not always easy to ask for help. My aim is to create a warm, open, and supportive environment where we can work together to address the challenges you may be currently facing.
People see psychologists for lots of different reasons. You might be feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed. Maybe you’re experiencing low motivation and having trouble maintaining focus. You might be facing difficult transitions at work, school, or within relationships. Or you might be looking for help with managing the inner critic that keeps telling you you’re not good enough. Maybe you’re not quite sure what the problem is, but you know that something’s not right and you’d like a safe space to try and figure things out.
In our work together, we can explore the coping strategies that have supported you during tough times in the past, and figure out new ways of managing life challenges and unhelpful patterns of behaviour if these strategies are no longer serving you.
My therapeutic approach is holistic, flexible, and person-centred, and is informed by several evidence-based modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-focused Therapy (CFT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-focussed Therapy (EFT), and Attachment Theory.
While I work with clients of all ages (children, teens, and adults) and from all walks of life, I have a particular interest in working with individuals in high performance settings, especially within the performing arts and sports. My professional experience has spanned clinical, research, and academic settings in Australia and the United Kingdom, and I have a doctorate in Dance and Performance Psychology. I am passionate about helping elite performers find ways to manage performance demands while supporting their physical and mental wellbeing.
